Description and details
Carlo Riva, founder of the Riva shipyard, is the mastermind behind the MonteCarlo Offshorer concept in the 1970s. Shortly after selling Riva to Bertram, Riva brought back an innovative idea from the United States: the first deep V-stepped hull, a highly innovative design because the steps in the hull provided a certain "lift" effect on the hull, making it faster and lighter on the water's surface. Bob Hobbs, a visionary mathematician and naval architect who invented the first V-stepped hull, encountered serious production problems in South Florida. Carlo Riva supported him and also involved Cal Connell (owner and founder of Mercruiser) and brought the innovative concept to Italy for production. And so the MonteCarlo Offshorer was born, in a small shipyard in Ventimiglia called "Mare e Sole," a few miles from Monaco. The MonteCarlo Offshorer quickly became an icon of the French Riviera. A total of 343 Offshorers were built: one of the greatest success stories in the yachting industry. The unmistakable Monte Carlo Offshorer logo powerfully evokes the concept of speed and, at the same time, the extravagant years of the "Dolce Vita" on the French Riviera. Today, it is still considered one of the most elegant boats ever designed. Even more importantly, the hull and underwater lines are still considered the finest ever conceived. They allow for great handling and seaworthiness, allowing for very high speeds even in rough waters. This MC30 is equipped with two 375 hp Crusader V8 engines. These are considerably lighter and more powerful than the more popular Mercruiser gas engines (also used in most Riva Aquaramas). The MC30 is in perfect condition; the engines have been replaced and are newer. Additional information: Added sundeck;
